1. The vehicle I'm looking for is not in the drop down list?
Only vehicles advertised on Tassie Cars are displayed in the drop down list. As a registered member you have the option to be notified of any vehicles matching your requirements that are added to Tassie Cars.

To create a search for a vehicle that is not in the drop down list, log in, select from Member Options, My Saved Searches. On the Saved Searches page, click the Create Search button. Enter the details for the vehicle you are looking for, make sure to tick Notify me by email of new advertisements, and click Create.

2. I'm not sure what vehicle I want but have a fixed price in mind?
Leave the Make and Model selections as they are, specify your price range by selecting the Lowest Price and/or the Highest Price. The search results should contain a mixture of vehicles that fall within your price range.

3. How do I search for vehicles of a particular colour?
Enter your required colour e.g. "red" in the Keywords field. Select any other details relating to the type of vehicle you require e.g. Make and Model, Price range etc and click Search. The results should contain vehicles in your required colour, however, due to the way we search our database of advertisements you may also receive examples of vehicles that have "red" fixtures or other words containing "red" in their details.

4. How do I search for vehicles within a certain distance?
To search for vehicles within a specific distance, select the distance in the KM drop-down and enter your postcode into the Postcode field, and then click Search.

For example, if you wanted to search for all vehicles listed that are within 50km of Launceston, you would select the 50 option in the KM drop-down, and enter 7250 in the Postcode field.

5. I want to carry out more specific searches
You can search for specific vehicle derivates or specifications by entering relevant keywords into the Variant and Keywords boxes.

For example, to search for a Ford Falcon XR6, you would select the Make Ford, the Model Falcon and type "XR6" into the Variant field. If from there you wanted to refine the search further you can type in the Keywords field for the vehicle to include these features.

If you want to search for a Hatchback or Coupe and don't know what Make and Model you would like, you can simply leave Make and Model as they are, select Hatchback or Coupe etc from the drop down menu and any other features you would like into the Keywords field, select your Price range etc and click Search.

6. How do I search for vehicles with a specific odometer reading?
If you haven't done so already, register or login in order to activate the greyed-out Highest km field. Select Highest km e.g. "up to 10,000", select any other required details e.g. Make & Model, then click Search. The returned results should show vehicles with a odometer reading of less than 10,000 km.

7. Why don't some vehicles state odometer reading?
There are practical and logistical reasons why some advertisements do not supply information such as Odometer readings.

In the interest of supplying our users with as much choice as possible, we therefore believe its more important to get this stock to market rather than miss the opportunity for it not to be included on the site.

We know from user feedback that most potential buyers like to have as much information about a vehicle before they make a purchase enquiry. Our advice to Private advertisers wishing to boost the volume and quality purchase enquiries, is to always include odometer details whenever they submit an advertisement.

8. How do I search for cars of a specific age?
If you haven't done so already, register or login in order to activate the greyed-out Earliest Year and Latest Year fields. Select a vehicle age, e.g. to search for a vehicle up to 2 years old: if the current year is 2003 then select "2001" in the Earliest Year field. Select any other required details e.g. Make & Model, then click Search. The returned results should comprise of vehicles that are two years old or less.

9. When are new advertisements uploaded to the website?
Private Advertisements supplied on-line to Tassie Cars will be processed and published on the site the first working day following the submission of the advertisement. Dealer Advertisements are usually updated weekly.

You can see when Tassie Cars was last updated in the top right of the screen, however, we are not always told immediately when a car has sold. We recommend that you contact the seller directly to double check that a car is still available, especially if you will have to make a special trip.

10. Can you send me updates of the vehicles I want?
Yes, simply create a Saved Search for a vehicle. You can either do this from the home page, by selecting My Saved Searches under Member Options. On the Saved Searches page, click the Create Search button, or, when you have already performed a search, select the Save this search link in the bottom right hand corner of the results screen. Enter the details for the vehicle you are looking for, make sure to tick Notify me by email of new advertisements, and click Create.

11. Why do some advertisements show the price of a vehicle after Trade-in instead of the full correct price?
Some of our dealers have minimum trade-in offers. For example, if a dealer is offering $2000 minimum trade on a $10,000 vehicle, and you search for a vehicle worth $8000, the dealers vehicle will be displayed in your search results. To view search results without trade-in prices, tick No Trade-in Prices on the search form.
